The onslaught of the quarantine kept us at home and we never stopped to amuse ourselves. Watching films online is one of the things that kept us sane over the year of this adversity that we’re experiencing. If you’re still looking for films to watch online, maybe my list would be helpful for you! Now, sorry, I am not big on K-dramas, but bear with me as these series and movies are honestly fun to watch, you might want to reconsider watching! (Again don’t hate me! Haha)
- Queen’s Gambit
This is special to me as I do play Chess. When I was younger, I play it with my older sister, Charisse and our dad, Steven. It’s one of the recreational activities we do when there is or there isn’t a power outage in the city! LOL! Anyways, I love these series too much, I watched it twice. The main character, Beth, expressed her eccentricity, but really, I think a lot of people resonated with her character’s challenges.
- The Witcher
I have always been a fan of fantasy and magic, The Witcher offers the right amount of magic, darkness and action. I am really looking forward to the next season or seasons?
- Dare Me
I am a frustrated cheerleader but I just can’t leave my studies back in the day. Cheer dancing movies entertain me but this series is way beyond dancing. It’s not like Bring it On or Hellcats (who still remembers these?). Try watching this, it’s a different approach; daring!
Your Grace! Silly me, I only realized that it was Julie Andrews speaking when I was watching the last episode! Haha! I love this series! Well done to the script and the very detailed production! Can’t wait for next season, even when Duke of Hastings won’t be there.
- Riverdale Season 5
At some time, I stopped watching Riverdale because of the Gargoyle thing but then I continued watching it during quarantine and the storyline got better. Cheryl Blossom would always be my favorite! It’s also nice to see a fellow Filipina, AC Bonifacio to be included in one of the episodes where she had a dance showdown with Cheryl!
A Marvel geek cannot miss the Disney + series! I would suggest though that you watch all Marvel movies to better understand, otherwise, it is still entertaining.
- The Falcon & The Winter Soldier
More action and stunts here! Captain America’s legacy lives on! Also, did you know a Filipino song was played in one of the episodes? Amatz by Shanti Dope, I knew it it was Tagalog rap as the characters walked in the streets of Madripoor.
- To All The Boys: Always & Forever
LJ and PK forever! Need I say more? 😊 I love the story, it reminds me of my young and adventurous self. Hehe
- Work It
Yup, another dance movie! I am so convinced that Sabrina Carpenter is so talented! This is a story of reaching your goals, friendship and more. It’s a nice feel-good movie!
- Feel the Beat
Okay, I just love dance movies as much as I love to dance (in my room only). Sofia Carson caught my eyes on Disney’s Descendants but she’s a whole different level here! The kids were so cute!
- Zack Snyder’s Justice League
I honestly subscribed to HBO Go just for this! At first, I got confused about why I am watching the same movie, well I realized, it is the same movie but an extended version; Zack Snyder’s cut. The movie was so long but I was still entertained. There may be scenes that should’ve left out but that’s okay, no biggie. Hehe! I have to say, I like the storytelling of the life of Flash here, oh, and the version of Steppenwolf here is more convincingly frightening compared to the one released in the movie theaters.
- Wonder Woman 1984
This broke my heart when Steve has to “leave” her life again. Ooohh, still action-packed! The first scene in Themyscira is one of my favorite scenes. Love the cinematography, movements and establishing shots there!
- Pieces of a Woman
Vanessa Kirby caught my eye n Fast & the Furious: Hobbs & Shaw and Mission Impossible movies but I never thought she has more to offer! Shia LaBeouf (my childhood crush since Even Stevens), made a comeback in that movie, too! If you like drama, this will give you drama!
- The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
I loved the Sabrina series then (played by Melissa Joan Hart), I love the Sabrina now. This version has more execution of demonic practices. If you’re a devout Christian or Catholic, you may not like this.
- DC Titans
I just wrapped up watching the 3rd season on Netflix! Honestly, the first episodes were a bit dragging, I couldn’t find the climax but I still watched and I enjoyed it but not loved it! You get to learn more about some DC characters in this series, especially Robin/Nightwing.
- Fate: The Winx Saga
When I was younger, we were raving about comic magazines! Winx is one of them, although W.I.T.C.H is my favorite, I must still watch A live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon’s Winx Club (I didn’t know there was animated series! LOL!). I wonder if Bloom is really selfish also in the comic magazines, but anyway, I don’t love it but I like it. Their magical powers were interesting so I kept watching it!
Have you watched any of these movies or series? Let me know what you think!
