Where I’ve Been: A Personal Travel Blog

This is the third and last day of the Blog Challenge that I joined at a group, Bloggers Ph. This blog would all be the memorable places I’ve been to. I gathered a handful of photos here and despite not being able to travel a lot lately, I realized that I have been traveling a lot my whole life! As I share with you my travels here, it’s going to be a lot more personal, you guys are going to know more about me! Not that my life is very interesting, but maybe someone out there would be more inspired to travel, explore the world and have something to look forward to especially after this global pandemic we are experiencing right now. So, here it is, Where I’ve Been: A Personal Travel Blog.

Where I’ve Been: Work Travels

Here are places that I’ve been to when I was still working as a broadcast journalist. It was then my first job two months after my graduation. Our news bureau or our regional network covers the Cordillera region, La Union and Ilocos Sur.

San Roque Dam, Pangasinan

Not sure if you’re familiar with the spillage of a very known mining company in Benguet, but this is one of the places affected by it. There was severe fish kill and I was able to visit the province and write a story about the affected residents.

Bangued, Abra

This is one of the hot spots during elections and I am truly thankful that I went there and came home safe every time I traveled there. I remember how I almost threw up inside our “crew cab” because I was typing my script on the laptop while the driver maneuvers the car fast!

Ilocos Sur

I went here too many times aside from my La Union news beats. I immersed myself in Candon, Ilocos Sur, Narvacan and Vigan. I wrote a short documentary about tobacco farmers because of Sintax Law. I also went there for Bagnet Festival in which I never tasted it during the visit. HAHAHA! So many memories in which I enjoyed despite the pressure that I cannot put into words right now. LOL

Tagaytay

I worked as a sales coordinator for one of the famous cake shops in Manila. It was my first time to go to Tagaytay to deliver 3 wedding cakes all happening on the same day! I remember that we met crazy traffic jams there and almost got to the venues late. Thank God, we were all right on time!

Where I’ve Been: Personal Travels

When I was younger, our family was able to travel a lot because of their religious organization. I don’t have a lot of soft copies of the photos we’ve been to, but I saved some in which I downloaded from my Facebook account. I also had different personal travels too when I was working in Makati, I also visited Batangas quite a lot. Also, I love the beach so I am listing here a few beaches and also some of my favorite mountain treks!

Mayon Volcano, Albay (2010)

Here are my favorite photos with my family when we went for hours and hours of drive to see the majestic cone-shaped Mayon Volcano in Albay.

Ilocos Norte (2012)

Paoay Church

We always go on a trip during the holy week before so we visit at least 7 churches in the provinces we go to. The Bangui Windmills are wonderful as well! I don’t have many photos but here are some!

Kapurpurawan Rock Formation

Our family went here twice, and the first time we went there, there are only a few tourists. We were able to even climb at the chalk white-colored rock formation! We just sat there for a while and gaze at the raging blue waves as it settles to the shore.

La Union Beach Trips

I had a meaningful trip with my family as I was working already in Makati before. I was able to take some time off at work and go on a trip with them which is close to home. I also went to San Juan recently for a quick dip. I love the Flotsam and Jetsam! For sure, a lot of people know that place.

Mount Batulao

I remember this climb when my partner and I only had 3-hr sleep because we came from a family reunion! Nonetheless, we managed to climb to the top of the mountain. I wrote a full blog about this, if you’re interested to know more, check the blog here: Mount Batulao.

Boracay (2016)

Thank you to my dearest friend KC who sold us her plane tickets so my partner, Joel, and I can go to Boracay! KC and her supposed companions were not available so we said yes and it was a very memorable and meaningful trip for me. It was my first airplane ride, also Joel’s! It was fun, at that time, Boracay was not yet rehabilitated but where we stayed seemed okay. The beachfront was clean and we were staying at Station 3. I would go back there someday, this time, with my family.

Masasa Beach (2017)

This is my only trip with my older sister and my boyfriend. This was when I just resigned from my job and I’m about to live again in my hometown, Baguio City. I also wrote a blog about our travel here. Underrated Paradise in Batangas.

Mount Cabuyao

This is where the Café in the Sky is located. It is not in Baguio City, it’s in Tuba, Benguet. The café is about an hour drive from the city. Funny when our spontaneous barkada just went there after a surprise birthday party for our friend on January 1. We rode the van and drove to the top at night! The café was about to close already when we went there but they let us in and gave us free Turon! After waves of laughter, games, chitchats over coffee, we had photoshoots! We are all colleagues from my first job and some of them happen to be the cameraman at our station and they are very good videographers and photographers!

Ahhh! My first exit out of our homeland, Singapore! We only spent two and a half days there so I really tried to make the most out of it. I was able to explore Sentosa, I went to the wax museum, rode the cable car, the light show in Marina Bay and Universal Studios. The cable car ride got my heart pounding as I am so afraid of heights! The most memorable experience was when I went to Universal Studios alone while my aunt is attending a wedding and my cousin opted to rest at a coffee shop. I spent at least 2 hours just walking around the magical place. I felt like a kid again! Wondered how I got those photos? Oh, I find a place where to prompt my phone camera and set a timer and I asked other tourists to take a photo of me after I take a photo of them!

View from Mt. Kalugong— La Trinidad

Mt. Kalugong is located in La Trinidad, Benguet, just about 35-minutes drive from Baguio City proper. From the drop-off, we didn’t walk that far to get to the gate. Going to the peak of the rocky ridges of Mt. Katulong is about 15 minutes. Our group of bloggers got there before sunrise and we patiently waited for it. I just love the horizon!

I am really looking forward to traveling to new places this year! After this community quarantine, I’m going to pack my bag! Would you visit some of the places I’ve been to?

Thank you for reading this. Stay radiant!
