Since I got my hands on the new alternative for cotton face pads, I’ve decided to make a series of eco-friendly beauty items! Now, here’s my first eco-friendly beauty blog: Reusable Face Pads. Be a part of an “ecolution” so keep reading!
My Skincare Routine
I have been an advocate in practicing skincare for the past 8 years. Yes, I do remember when I started taking skincare seriously on my daily routine. The first part of my skincare routine after a hard day’s work is wiping off my makeup, then the so-called “double cleanse” by washing my face with facial soap and water. Next is applying toner, the kind that still removes any residues on my face.
Reusable Face Pads
Okay, I found out about reusable face pads from a friend of mine and I started researching about it! Bam! I found a lot of eco-sellers of the product. I see 2 kinds of them; 1. Cotton Scrubbies (knitted) 2. Cotton Cloth Facial Rounds. From one of the suppliers of the face pads, they noted, “Reusable cloth cotton rounds are the answers in replacing disposable facial cotton pads. They are for removing the dirt, grime & makeup residue on your face without leaving a mark on the environment!” Let me share with you more details from the sellers of the reusable pads.
1. Cotton Scrubbies
These are crocheted cotton rounds. I like to use it when I remove my makeup as it can thoroughly get into all crevices and the extra roughness is like an exfoliator tool I got my cotton scrubbies from Mimo Manila through their Instagram account. It is priced at Php60/piece and Php199 per set of 4 pieces. I bought the set since I’m also paying for a shipping fee. They are so kind to let me choose the colors I like
- 100% handmade
- 80% cotton, 20% milk fiber
2. Cotton Cloth Facial Rounds
I bought these from Ecolution Ph through Shoppee. Priced at Php200, I got 6 cotton rounds with almost the size of my palm and it comes with a mesh soap bag. Here are more details from their description:
– 100% proudly made in the Philippines by working moms
– 50% of your purchase would go to the working moms
– made of organic cotton cloth with brush cotton lining
The mesh soap bag could be used for soap bars OR putting in used/washed/wet facial rounds to hang up & dry.
Instructions on how to use the reusable cotton pads (these are from the supplier and my added tips):
- Wash the pads before the first use and every after usage.
- To wash them, just put them in the washing machine with your usual clothing laundry bag (cold hand/machine wash). TIP: I also do hand wash them and I add antibacterial laundry soap
- Do not bleach and iron them. TIP: I am not sure why it can’t be ironed, please enlighten me about it! But I do it just an added measure to kill germs. I iron the pads but not directly, I add cloth over it like my handkerchief.
- Dry flat in shade. TIP: I clean the clothespin if I want to hang it.
Why I love it
Of course, we like our purchases more meaningful as it’s zero waste! Just reuse them and make sure you wash it thoroughly. Most importantly, I save Php60-80 per 2 weeks. Yes, before, I consume and throw away disposable cotton rounds too much because of my makeup removal and other skincare steps. So thankful to have these in my life now! I am thinking if I can also knit for my own too!
I like the cotton cloth facial rounds because of its size. I can use one side of it and save the other side for another skincare time!
What’s not to love?
Well, at first when I had the crocheted cotton scrubbies and used it for my toner, I consume more of the product because the scubbies are thick and it doesn’t absorb the toner right away.
It can be very tedious at first because you have to wash it every 2-3 days. No sweat though! Maybe if I buy more of these, I can just wash at least once a week!
Alright, that wraps up my blog. I want you to know that this is not sponsored. I paid for these. The shipping fee kinda hurt since I live outside Metro Manila. Hehe kidding aside!
